Saudi Arabia, the largest Mideast country, covers nearly all of the Arabian Peninsula. The country consists of six regions: Rub al Khali (in the south, which is primarily desert), the Nafud (north, desert), Eastern Province (east, along the Gulf), Najran (southern, mountainous), Hijaz (the Red Sea area), Asir (southwestern, mountainous) and Najd (central, mountainous).
